Privacy Policy

Summary
BlueTea is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) testing & automation tool. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. BlueTea has no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. Everything you create stays on your device, and — only if you use iCloud — in your own private iCloud account.
What BlueTea stores, and where
All of the following is stored locally on your device:
- Saved devices — names/identifiers and UART setup for BLE peripherals you connect to.
- Scripts — the Lua scripts you write or import, and their per-script saved values.
- Preferences — editor font size and the onboarding flag.
We (the developer) cannot see any of this. It never leaves your device except through iCloud, as described next.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud Drive is enabled, your saved devices and scripts sync across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. This data is stored in your iCloud account under your Apple ID and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to your private CloudKit data and cannot read it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, BlueTea keeps everything on-device.
Bluetooth
BlueTea uses Bluetooth solely to discover, connect to, and exchange data with the BLE devices you choose. Data read from or written to your devices is processed on-device to display it and run your scripts; it is not sent to us or any third party. iOS asks for Bluetooth permission after a brief explanation screen; you can change this anytime in Settings → BlueTea → Bluetooth.
Data we do NOT collect
We do not collect identity, contacts, location, usage analytics, diagnostics, or any device identifiers for tracking. BlueTea contains no advertising or third-party analytics frameworks.
Children's privacy
BlueTea does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Your control
Because all data is on your device (and your private iCloud), you control it fully: delete a script, forget a saved device, or delete the app to remove its local data. iCloud-synced data can be managed via Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
